Python attacks factory worker and wraps around his body in India
This is the shocking moment a python attacked a terrified factory worker in India.
The 14ft reptile was hidden in the dense undergrowth before latching onto Nand Singh, 53, as he was walking home from a plant in Kota, Rajasthan, on November 24.
The shocked local fell to the ground as the python coiled painfully around his leg. He spent 20 minutes trying to pry it off, but was left screaming when the bulky serpent continued to crush the limb in its powerful grip.
Other factory workers heard Nand's agonised cries and rushed to his aid.
Footage shows Nand shouting in panic while the workers pinned the serpent to the ground. They then beat the snake with planks and sticks, leaving it severely injured.
Nand was rushed to the MBS Hospital.
The critically wounded python was handed over to Kota's Abheda Biological Park for treatment, but vets said it had 'little chance of survival'.
Mutha S., Kota Divisional Forest Officer, said: 'The labourers had beaten and injured the python with sticks and rods when the forest department team arrived. From there, the python was rescued and sent to Abheda Biological Park. A team of doctors is treating the python. Action will be taken against all those who attacked the python.'
The reticulated python is found throughout South and Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
