A frightening kitchen mishap was recorded by Billy Smith in the United States on July 22, 2025, demonstrating the dangerous reaction between water and hot oil.

The video shows a man in a white t-shirt and black gloves focused on pouring ingredients from a can into a pot on the back burner. In the foreground, a frying pan filled with yellow oil sits heating on the stove. Just as the cameraman observes, "That water in there," the oil in the front pan violently erupts, sending a splash of hot grease into the air.

The cook flinches and jumps back just in time to avoid serious injury, shielding his face from the splatter. The cameraman captures the aftermath, shouting, "There it go! Hell no!" explaining that water had accidentally been left in the pan before the oil was added, causing a steam explosion once it reached boiling temperature.
