This is the dramatic moment a herd of pigs ran loose when a bus carrying them caught fire.

Swine sprinted across the road as frantic locals surrounded the burning blue 'jeepney' truck to extinguish the blaze in Romblon, the Philippines.

Footage captured by Jane Marie Mutia Romero shows the hogs wandering in the streets, away from the four-wheeler on November 27.

Meanwhile, residents doused the vehicle with water as thick smoke billowed in the air. They managed to put out the flames while the pigs gathered on the roadside.

Jane said: 'No one was injured from what happened, and the pigs were later retrieved by their owner.'

A jeepney is a type of truck that is used to collect passengers like a bus.
