This is the moment a Russian Uragan rocket launcher reportedly fires a nighttime salvo that hits a Ukrainian position on the Kupiansk frontline.

Footage reportedly shows the strike near the city of Kupiansk, in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine, on December 4.

The Russian Ministry of Defence said a Uragan multiple launch rocket system crew from the 288th Guards Artillery Brigade of the 1st Guards Tank Army targeted a temporary deployment point of Ukrainian personnel and equipment.

Authorities added that the crew received operational reconnaissance data on Ukrainian positions before deploying the combat vehicle to a prepared firing site.

The video shows the launcher firing 220-millimetre rockets.

Officials noted that after ballistic calculations and aiming, a salvo was launched at a distance of more than 25 kilometres (15 miles), adding that all designated targets were destroyed. It said the artillery unit then left the position, concealed the equipment, and took cover in a prepared bunker.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
