Quick-thinking shop worker performs Heimlich Manoeuvre on choking food delivery lady
This is the dramatic moment a quick-thinking shop worker performed the Heimlich Manoeuvre on a choking food delivery lady.
CCTV footage shows the woman, wearing a helmet and red vest, rushing inside the store after a piece of steamed bun became lodged in her throat in Hubei, China.
She can be seen frantically asking for help as she retches, prompting the store owner to gesture to her colleague to assist the distressed worker on November 30.
The man immediately held her from behind and repeatedly thrust upward until the delivery rider expelled the food.
The store owner said that the rider was eating breakfast when she began choking.
The Heimlich manoeuvre is an emergency first-aid technique used to treat someone who is choking due to a blocked airway.
It involves standing behind the person, placing a fist just above their navel, and making a series of quick, upward abdominal thrusts to create pressure that can expel the object obstructing the airway.
It is intended for use on conscious adults and children and should only be performed when the person cannot breathe, speak, or cough effectively.
