This is the nerve-wracking moment a lorry driver narrowly escaped death after his vehicle was left hanging off a collapsed bridge.

You Guochun, transporting a 22-tonne ore load, was manoeuvring along the G76 Xiarong Expressway when part of the highway gave way in Guizhou Province, China.

This caused the cab of the red truck to hang above a 100ft (30m) drop on June 24.

Dramatic footage shows the driver conversing with Liang Zulian, who was passing by.

Liang then reportedly placed warning cones 656ft (200m) behind the stranded vehicle to alert other motorists.

You recalled that he felt the road suddenly sinking, prompting him to brake hard. However, the cab and three rows of wheels still skidded more than 23ft (7m) beyond the broken edge.

He said: 'I barely dared to move inside the suspended cab, and I was even trying to steady my breathing because I feared that the weight of the load could trigger the truck to fall down.'

Local media reported that rescuers extracted the stranded driver unscathed after around two hours.

The worker is said to have continued to drive long-haul routes and says trucking remains his main source of income.

Following the incident, he gained a massive online following and fame, and subsequently started livestreaming.

You Guochun, who left school before graduating and worked various jobs before becoming a trucker in 2015, said that despite his fame, he cannot easily change careers in midlife.

He hopes eventually to become a livestream host specialising in supporting farmers in remote mountain areas by helping them sell agricultural products online.
