Storyline: Chinese New Year merchandise flies off shelves at China's small commodities hub [Voice_over] The 2026 Chinese New Year might be two months away, but in east China's Yiwu City, the world's largest wholesale hub for small commodities, festive fever for the Year of the Horse is already running high, as merchants fill orders for products adorned with the zodiac animal. Like these "Fu", or good luck, signs that feature a galloping horse. [Sound_bite] Qin Caiyan, Vendor, Yiwu International Trade Market: "This year, all our horse designs are inspired by the classical "Eight Steeds" motif. We created eight different horses and integrated a galloping horse into some of the Fu signs to make the whole piece come alive." [Voice_over] Even hair clips and fridge magnets have gone zodiac, sporting horse-related lucky messages and motifs. [Sound_bite] Guo Lixia, Vendor, Yiwu International Trade Market: "These two designs are available on all major e-commerce platforms and they’re absolute bestsellers. Our factory can produce over 100,000 sets a day, and a single customer could place an order for tens of thousands of sets right on the spot." [Voice_over] Also known as the Spring Festival, the 2026 Chinese New Year will fall on Feb. 17. [Restrictions: No access Chinese mainland]
