Bakersfield, United States - December 20, 2025 12/20/2025 01:00 am GMT-0800 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A shooting investigation early Saturday led to multiple detentions following reports of gunfire in Oildale, an unincorporated suburban town just north of Bakersfield. The incident was reported around 1 a.m. A caller informed deputies that they were shot at but were not hit. The caller described suspects running down an alley while firing at each other multiple times. Deputies detained two people inside a van near North Chester Avenue and El Tejon Avenue after witnesses reported the suspects fled in that direction. Approximately 10 minutes later, a police helicopter reported that suspects had entered a residence in the 2100 block of Olympic Drive. Deputies surrounded the home, called out about eight individuals, and detained them before clearing the residence. The specific location of the shooting remains unclear. Injuries are unknown at the time of the incident. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office and Kern County Fire Department responded to the scene.
