US, Phoenix: Phoenix Gas Leak Prompts Road Closure

Phoenix, United States - January 12, 2026 01/11/2026 08:50 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the 5600 block of East Camelback Road just before 9 p.m. Sunday following reports of a natural gas odor. Upon arrival, they discovered a ruptured gas line beneath the road. Firefighters contacted Southwest Gas, which arrived to assess and repair the gas main. Meanwhile, police closed Camelback Road in both directions near the leak as crews worked to contain the situation. The closure is expected to last several hours as crews continue to work to resolve the gas leak.
