Security Scare Triggers Evacuation And Tarmac Holds At Miami Airport
Video shared by X user Zalmy Cohen shows a security incident unfolding at Miami International Airport on January 25, 2026, shortly after a flight landed.
The footage captures the aircraft stopped on the tarmac, with visible ground activity suggesting an evacuation was underway. The scene is viewed from inside the plane as passengers remain seated.
The post accompanying the video reads, “Miami airport total evacuation just landed now being held on tarmac,” indicating a security situation that led to aircraft being held after arrival.
According to available details, the incident was linked to a suspicious unattended bag found at Departures Door 21 in the South Terminal. As a precaution, Concourses G and H were mainly affected, prompting a partial terminal evacuation.
Miami-Dade Police, the bomb squad, and airport security were dispatched to investigate the item. During the response, some incoming flights were kept on the tarmac to maintain safety.
Authorities later determined the bag was not dangerous and was likely forgotten luggage. No explosive device was found, and no injuries were reported.
Normal airport operations resumed after roughly two hours, between 7:25 PM and 9:00 PM local time. The temporary shutdown led to delays and flight backlogs.
The disruption added to broader travel difficulties caused by Winter Storm Fern, which was already affecting air traffic across the country, contributing to heightened stress for travelers during the incident.
