Indian Army launches swift humanitarian mission as critically ill 27-year-old woman saved in snow hit region
The Indian Army conducted a swift humanitarian operation in a snow hit area. An emergency medical evacuation was carried out to assist a critically ill woman. Timely action by the forces provided lifesaving medical support under challenging weather conditions.
The incident took place in the snow-hit Warnow area of Lolab in Kupwara district, in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir, on January 24.
Visuals show that amid severe snowfall, Indian Army personnel are seen providing medical emergency assistance to an ill woman. They are carrying her and placing her in an ambulance while continuing to care for her.
According to reports, a 27-year-old woman, who had recently given birth was evacuated from her remote village and safely taken to Government Sub-District Hospital, Sogam for advanced medical treatment. The evacuation was carried out under difficult conditions as heavy snowfall and challenging terrain had cut off access to the area.
Army personnel reached the woman’s residence by moving through snow covered paths and hazardous terrain. Upon arrival they provided immediate medical assistance to stabilise her condition. After ensuring she was fit for transport the team carefully shifted her to an ambulance and escorted her to the hospital. The timely intervention played a vital role in ensuring she received urgent medical care without delay.
Officials said the operation required precision coordination and strong commitment due to severe weather conditions. Despite these challenges the Army team completed the mission successfully and ensured the safety of both mother and child.
Local residents expressed deep appreciation for the Army’s prompt response and professional conduct. Many praised the forces for standing with civilians during emergencies and reaching areas that are otherwise inaccessible during harsh winters. Villagers said such efforts have strengthened trust and confidence among people living in remote regions.
The successful rescue once again highlighted the Indian Army’s crucial humanitarian role. Officials said the forces continue to remain prepared to assist civilians during extreme weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir. The operation stands as another example of the Army’s dedication to public service and lifesaving efforts in difficult situations.
