The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army came into action as they evacuated an 80-year-old lady who was suffering from high fever and severe arthritis amid heavy snowfall in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on January 20.

Visuals showed troops carrying the lady on his back as he and his team walked on foot on the mountainous road laden with snow. According to a report, the Indian Army detachment at Paro got a distress call from a man named Mir Mohammed, whose wife was Sardar Beewa, who had developed severe abdominal pain along with fever and vomiting.

Evacuation is tough in a place like the Jabri village, especially during snowfall with the place being located on a steep gradient. Wading through the snow which had come up to knee-length, the Chinar Corps officers reached the lady's home and evacuated her by carrying her on the back.

The lady was then shifted to an army ambulance from where she was taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Boniyar.
