Claudine Coleridge, a community activist from Elsies River, and August West a saxophonist from Matroosfontein provided a Christmas meal and a musical performance to impoverished children from the Matroosfontein community.

Coleridge has fed impoverished communities since the beginning of South Africa’s Covid 19 lockdown, which has ravaged the country’s economy, resulting in high levels of unemployment. Communities such as Elsies River and Matroosfontein on Cape Town’s notorious gang-ridden Cape Flats have to deal with several social issues as a result of poverty and unemployment.

The food was handed out outside the home of August West’s mother in Matroosfonten, while he entertained the children with Christmas music.
