Songket is a type of traditional woven fabric that belongs to the brocade woven family. Songket Silungkang is a traditional woven Songket fabric made with ATBM (Non-Machine Weaving Machine) which is the work of the weavers in Silungkang, West Sumatra.

Songket is one of the works of skilled hands of the original Silungkang craftsmen, the city of Sawahlunto, West Sumatra which has varied and unique patterns and motifs. Take elements from nature which are packed in motifs of bungo radish, grapes, pucuak rabuang, bintang, Kapalo samek, and many other elements. BEAUTIFUL and ELEGANT color combinations in each piece of songket add to the elegance of each owner.

Silungkang weaving has advantages in motives. Other features are found in the variety. There is songket ikat, songket batabua, full, yarn two, and songket selendang broad.

The basic material of songket woven fabric is woven thread called warp or warp thread. The thread is the unit of measure called a hammer. Meanwhile, the decoration (songket) uses makao yarn or weft yarn.
