A group of Hindu priests had a lucky escape after a scaffold collapsed under their weight.

The priests at Ashtalakshmi temple in Hyderabad in South India had climbed a scaffold made of bamboo to worship the tower of the temple on December 19.

While they were performing the ritual, the scaffold collapsed under their weight.

An eyewitness Narahari Babu said: "The scaffold held on partially letting the priests climb down safely. If it had collapsed fully, they could have plunged more than 60-feet to the ground."
