A team from India's Forest Department performed an impressive rescue on Saturday (February 20) of a deer which fell into a deep well in the state of Telangana.

Two men descended the steep sides of the water source in Alampally in Vikarabad and then swam over to the stricken animal.

They then managed to tie a rope around the deer so that a team at the surface could haul the creature to safety.

One of the rescuers remained with the deer as it was being lifted to safety, climbing the walls of the well with one arm while supporting the animal with the other.

As soon as the ropes were untied at the surface, the deer sprinted off into the wild apparently uninjured.

A Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader, Shubhpradh Patel, released a deer into the woods after it was rescued from a well by forest officials in southern India's Telangana on February 20. The incident took place in Alampally in Vikarabad.

Visuals witnessing the incident features two men descending into the well to rescue the deer. They swim in proximity to the animal and guide it towards the rope lowered into the well. While one man ties the rope around the deer, the others collectively pull the creature up. Meanwhile, the former man supports the deer by clinging onto the steps constructed inside the well.

Once on the ground, the forest officials freed the deer from the ropes tied around its legs before inspecting it. As soon as the ropes were untied, the animal sprinted across the region and disappeared into the woods.

The Vikarabad Forest Department personnel, along with the TRS supporters, immediately swung into action upon being alerted about a deer being stranded in a well. TRS leader, Shubhpradh Patel, also rushed to the spot and lauded the efforts of the rescuers. Moreover, he took the rescued deer and safely released it into Ananthagiri Hills Forest.
