Residents forced to evacuate their home after flash floods hit Indonesia

Two men escape from their house as the area flooded after a flash flood hit Dompu on Thursday. Flashflood hit Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara, after heavy rains fell on the region on Wednesday (April 3, 2019). The water came from the overflowing Silo River that flows through Dompu Regency. Three villages were drowned and thousands were displaced and evacuated.

According to West Nusa Tenggara Disaster Mitigation Board, by April 4, 2019 at 8 p.m., at least 230 houses were hit by the flood. Two hundred and thirty families consisting of 1,150 individuals had to evacuate due to the water that reached 2.5-meter-high. There have been no reports of casualties although the data collection is still ongoing.
