Shopper, 55, plunges to his death after falling from 7th floor of mall 'while posing for picture'
A shopper plunged to his death after falling from the seventh floor of a mall while posing for a picture.
Nitichai Sakklang, 55, was visiting the CentralWorld shopping ourtlet in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday (04/06) afternoon with his younger brother.
They stopped by the ledge on the seventh floor before Nitichai asked his relative to take a photo of him with the beautiful indoor scenery behind him.
But while trying to get the best shot, Nitichai put his feet onto the lower rung of the glass and steel barrier to give himself extra height.
Tragically, he is then said to have slipped slipped over the edge and plunged to the ground. His brother is understood to have captured one photo before he fell.
Witnesses reported the shocking incident to mall staff, who quickly came to the scene.
Bizarrely, video from onlookers show how the security guards covered his body with a tent before checking on his health. He was eventually rushed to the the nearby Police General Hospital.
Nitichai died at the hospital after several of his bones were broken and losing a lot of blood while being sent to the ER.
Krissana Kimphaisan, the sub-inspector of Pathumwan district police, said that investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the mall and questioning witnesses in order to determine the cause.
He said: “We are questioning Nitichai’s brother as well as other witnesses to get more information about the accident.
“The brother told the police that they were not arguing or fighting when the accident occurred.
‘’He said that his brother was posing for a photograph when he fell over the edge.
‘’We will investigate the scene and check CCTV for more evidence that could fully explain the man’s cause of death.”
