Woman posing as health insurance agent kidnaps newborn from Indian hospital
Upsetting CCTV footage has emerged of a woman kidnapping a newborn from a hospital in northern India.
The incident took place on September 30 in the city of Amritsar in Punjab.
CCTV footage shows a woman entering the hospital, while her partner in crime is seen loitering outside the hospital on his bike.
The woman is then seen rushing out of the hospital with an infant in her arms.
She rushes towards her partner who was waiting on a motorbike in front of the hospital.
She hurriedly hops onto the bike and manages to flee from the scene.
According to reports, the abductor convinced the family members that she was from an insurance company.
She explained that she had an insurance plan that would be beneficial for the infant and the family as well.
The hospital authorities and family members were not suspicious of the woman and went along with her plan.
The family now suspects some hospital insiders might also be involved in the abduction.
At the time of going to press, the child lifter and her accomplice had been arrested.
The police are carrying out further investigations in this case.
