Frightened otter rescued after being injured by passing car in Thailand
Animal rescuers had a frantic chase to catch an otter that was hit by a car then kept running away each time they tried to help it.
Residents called for help after noticing the injured otter which was hit by a driver in Samut Sakorn, central Thailand on Tuesday (October 29) afternoon.
Volunteers arrived to find the frightened male otter aged around two-years-old hiding under a nearby car.
Footage shows a moment when the rescuer volunteers crowded around holding a net and tried to capture the otter.
They spent over an hour before the otter finally started to tire and they could catch him.
Shop owner Suchit Hankit said that he saw the otter hiding under his car when he was leaving on a motorcycle and felt sorry for him.
He said: "I noticed his injury and I wanted to take him to the vets but he was aggressive to me whenever I tried to reach him."
"I contacted the officers because they are more capable of catching animals than me, but even though the otter was injured, he was still harder to catch than I expected."
The animal rescuers carried the otter back to the office for treatment.
