Two men watch in awe as a poisonous snake swallows another of its kind in southern India.

The incident took place on May 24 in the Bangalore Rural district of Karnataka state.

Footage shows the two snakes, identified as banded krait and Russell viper by a clearly knowledgable commentator, slithering on the road.

The krait then attacks the smaller viper and clamps its jaws onto the reptile.

The viper tries to escape by attacking the krait but ultimately fails and is slowly devoured.

The krait is then seen moving towards the viper when the former suddenly attacks the latter and keeps a hold on it.

The viper tries to escape by attacking its predator repeatedly, however it fails.

The predator soon succeeds while the men witnessing the event stand in awe, while the krait soon starts devouring the viper.

The two men had come out for a walk when they noticed the reptiles attacking each other.
