This is the moment a truck carrying an abandoned India Post aircraft got stuck under a bridge.

The incident took place on National Highway-2 in Durgapur, West Bengal on December 24.

Video films by a local journalist shows a chaotic scene, with a large number of people shooting pictures of the stuck aircraft with their mobile phones.

According to reports, the driver was not able to calculate the height of the bridge due to dense fog at the time, which led to the aircraft getting stuck under the flyover.

But canny locals were able to help the driver to get the aircraft out of its tight spot by deflating the truck's tires.

The incident took place on December 24 on National Highway (NH) 2, en route to Durgapur city in Paschim Bardhaman district.

Visuals show large number of commuters gathered at the spot to witness the incident while some filming the same.

According to reports, due to the dense fog, the driver could not ascertain the height of the bridge which led to the aircraft getting stuck under the flyover.

Deflating the tyres of the truck, the locals helped the driver to take out the aircraft stuck under the bridge.

After a protracted blockade observed at NH 2, that connects to the major states within the country, the commuters resume their travel.

The aircraft was commissioned in 2007 and it was withdrawn around last year, reports said.

The state has been witnessing a dip in the temperature from the past few days, forming a dense fog which caused the incident.

Fortunately, no casualty or damage has been reported caused due to blockage.
