At least three people were lynched on suspicion of being thieves by a mob in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The incident took place near a tribal village in Palghar district on April 16.

The video shows, the crowd pelting stones on the car as the victims look on helplessly.

According to the reports, the attack took place after a rumour- of migrants driving around a car in order to rob locals- did the rounds.,

Once the car was intercepted by locals, over 200 people attacked and toppled it. Later, the angry mob started pelting stones and hit the trio with sticks.

One among the men, identified as a driver, had called the police, but succumbed to their injuries before the cops arrived, reports added.

The mob also attacked the police vehicle.

Police have detained at least 30 people in connection with the lynching.

A few days ago, cops and a few healthcare workers were attacked by tribals in Saarni village near Kasa, mistaken as thieves.
