Several incidents of snakes being found in unusual places have been reported, much like the one where it was spotted on top of the petrol tank inside a running motorcycle in central India's Chhatisgarh.

The visual came out of Farid Nagar in Bhilai on August 17.

According to reports, Minaj Ahmad sensed something uncomfortable while riding his motorcycle.

Following this, he discovered the Checkered keelback snake slithering underneath the seat on top of the petrol tank.

Left dumbfounded, he fell from the bike and hurried away from the spot.

Ahmad called rescuer Ajay Chaudhary from Nova Nature Welfare Society to safely rescue the snake.

Visuals show the vehicle parked in the middle of the road while Chaudhary carefully dismantles the motorcycle seat to rescue the serpent.

Following this, he uses a snake catcher stick to grab its tail and haul it out of the motorcycle.

According to reports, the snake has been safely released back into the wild.

The checkered keelback, also known commonly as the Asiatic water snake, is a common species of nonvenomous snakes.

The species is endemic to Asia.
