A drowned wasp lived after being given CPR by the woman who found it in her pool.

Insect enthusiast Tricia Rhoads said the insect may have passed out while flying above her pool in Owensboro, Kentucky and fell in the water on July 29.

The woman gave the unconscious insect a few presses to remove the water in its body and it started to move after a few minutes.

Tricia said: "I picked it up and started doing compressions on its belly. I worked on it for about four minutes before I was able to see it barely move one of its legs."

The wasp was released and left the property a few minutes later.
