A kind traffic cop was seen stopping a car to save a kitten stuck on a road.

The officer was standing at his post near a roundabout when he spotted the feline and rushed to rescue it in Sabah, Malaysia.

Footage shows the uniformed man sprinting and signalling drivers to stop so he could retrieve the frightened cat on September 6.

He looked under a sedan, picked up the stray, and carried it to safety at a nearby building.

An onlooker said: ‘Big thanks to the traffic policeman who quickly rescued a stray kitten on the road.

‘That simple act of kindness not only saved the little one but also showed the best of humanity.'

The Sandakan District Police's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division later commended the officer for the impromptu rescue.
