Fishermen on Bambaloka Beach, Indonesia, found a dolphin stranded with fishing line wrapped around its mouth.

Footage from September 10 shows a group bringing the animal to shore so they could remove the line.

After removing the line, the dolphin was released back into the sea.

2 meters-long dolphin was found stranded in a limp condition and its mouth wrapped in fishing line on Bambaloka Beach, West Sulawesi province, Indonesia.

Footage filmed on Thursday (Sept. 10) in Bulu Parigi village shows local residents checking to make sure the dolphin is still alive. The dolphin is brought to shore to open the rope wrapped around its mouth.

Head of Baras sub-district, Rahman Usman, told the media that the dolphin was first discovered by fishermen in the morning. “The dolphin's body in wounds. His condition was limp with plastic suspected of being a fishing line wrapped around his mouth. This is thought to make it difficult for the dolphins to breathe and eat,” Rahman added.

After successfully removing the rope, the dolphin brought back to the middle of the sea.

But not long after released into the sea, the dolphin returned to the beach where it was first found.

“Several times taken to the deep sea but the dolphins only swam for a while and then returned to beach. If still doesn't want to return with colony, we will discuss with the village head of Bulu Parigi about the rescue that will be carried out, "said Rahman.
