Despite easing of pandemic restrictions, beaches remain closed in Hong Kong

In a paradoxical development, while restriction of gathering for the coronavirus pandemic have been gradually eased in Hong Kong, especially in restaurants, and indoor places, the open air beaches of Hong Kong remain prohibited to the public and cordoned off. Sunday is traditionally a day where Shek O beach, featured in this video is filled with beach-goers eager to take to the sea on a beautiful and sunny day. A drone footage of the beach shot on Sunday 4 October 2020 shows the beach eerily empty and lifeless.

While visiting the area, the filmer noted that even the toilets of the beach were barricaded and closed off.
