An elderly man stranded in a 50-foot-deep well was rescued by the fire department in southern India's Tamil Nadu on October 9.

The rescue operation was carried out in the area of Periyapatti, Namakkal.

Footage shows one of the fire department team members being lowered into the well with the help of ropes.

The rescuer then attaches the harness to the 59-year-old man and he is pulled out of the well safely.

According to reports, locals alerted fire department officials after the elderly man, identified as Selvam, accidentally fell into the well.

Later, the rescuer is also pulled out after successful rescue of the stranded man.

According to the reports, the elderly man identified as Selvam (59) accidentally fell into the well and the people on noticing the man informed the fire department officials.

Rajeshwaran station officer led the rescue team involving Survanan, Mani, Kodishvaran, Rajashekar, Shiva, Triumugam, Karthikeyan, Kartik and Ashok Kumar.
