Brave cop leaps into action as passenger slips through platform gap, prevents tragedy
As one person attempted to board the train, he slipped and fell into the gap between the platform and the train. Acting swiftly, on-duty personnel spotted the danger, rushed to the scene, and pulled the individual to safety.
The incident took place at platform number 2, in Davangere Railway Station, in Davangere district, in southern India’s Karnataka on April 9.
Visuals show one person attempted to board the train, but he slipped, fell, and fell into the space between the platform and the train. The home guard, who was on duty right away, grabbed him and pulled him out.
Speaking to Newslions, the Railway Protection Force officer of Davangere Railway Station said that, train no. 17310 VSG-YPR Express (Vasco Da Gama-Yeshwantpur ) arrived at Davangere platform no. 2. While moving from Davangere, one person tried to board the train, but he slipped and fell down and went into the gap between the platform and train. Immediately, on-duty home guard staff Sri. Umanaik, Home Guard Metal No.368, noticed the person in danger. Suddenly he rushed to the spot and held the person and pulled out.
The person sustained small scratches on his leg. On duty Sri. Prabhakaran provided first aid to the passenger. The name of the person was Bhimashi Kotabagi (60 years), who was travelling from Vasco to Yeshwantpur (PNR No. 4737178096 under coach S5-49, 52) on arriving at DVG station.
He got down to buy a water bottle. Meanwhile, the train started moving and while boarding the moving train, slipped and fell down. Further, he continued his journey by the next train. The passenger thanked the staff of Home Guard and RPF for saving his life. The timely alert on duty and action of Sri.Umanaik, (Home Guard Metal No. 368) helped in saving the life of the person.
