Clashes erupted outside a school in Brackenfell, Cape Town after it was alleged that staff had excluded black students from a prom event.

Members of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) attempted to march through the suburb but were met with a mob of locals who tried to stop them.

Footage filmed on November 9 shows violent clashes between the two groups as they met outside Brackenfell High School.

A violent confrontation between members of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and members of the Brackenfell community took place when the EFF tried to march through the suburb to Brackenfell High School.

The EFF were stopped by a mob of mostly white community members as they tried to proceed to the school to handover a memorandum of demands calling for the principal and two teachers to be fired after an event at the school allegedly excluded black students.

Footages shows a member of the community grabbing the beret of an EFF member clashes break out.

A black female EFF member can be seen being beaten with a pick axe handle as she tries to flee as the mob of community members tried to force them out of the suburb.
