A leopard attacked a calf walking amid a herd of water buffaloes in Sri Lanka's Yala National Park on January 31.

The incident features a young leopard leaping onto a tree on the other side of a still pond. Then the wild animal attacks a calf walking amid a herd of buffaloes passing by the region. The other bovines begin to obstruct and strike the young mammal to save their yearling, but the carnivore doesn't budge and grabs its throat with its jaws and clings onto it. Both of them struggle for a while, and then the wild creature leaves its prey and mounts a tree. The herd eventually saved the calf from the leopard's deadly attack.

The Yala National Park is home to wildlife, such as leopards, elephants, crocodiles, including hundreds of bird species.
