Wildlife officials rescued an Indian muntjac entrapped in a snare in Sri Lanka on March 7. The incident took place in a rainforest in the region.

A video shows the forest officials treating the barking deer after rescuing it.

An expert tends to the Indian muntjac's wounds while the animal rests inside a cage. Blood oozes out of a deep cut on the deer's leg as the official puts medicine on it. Later, the expert properly covers the wound and lets the injured animal rest.

Hunters often place traps around the rainforest to capture animals for their meat. A barking deer got entrapped in one such snare, following which a man spotted it. He alerted the wildlife officials, who immediately swung into action and rescued the Indian muntjac. However, the deer sustained injuries on its legs and was transferred to an animal hospital after being given first-aid.
