Longer Version_Tumour patient chants hymn as doctors perform open-brain surgery in northern India
Lord Hanuman came to the rescue when a girl kept her faith during her surgery in northern India's Delhi on July 22. The incident took place in the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Visuals feature an ongoing open-brain surgery inside the operation theatre of the hospital. Given the severeness of the surgery, the patient remains conscious while the doctor suggests she chant Hanuman Chalisa or Hymn during the procedure to make her feel comfortable. In the meantime, the team of experts continues to perform the surgery to save her precious life.
The 24-year-old woman, aspiring to become a teacher, was asked to recite the verses during her three-hour-long surgery by Dr. Deepak Gupta for her mental peace and to create a positive atmosphere in the Neurosurgery Department. The girl remained conscious and was given a painkiller and local anesthesia injection before her operation. The surgery was quite risky as the tumor was on the left side of her brain, following which the doctors advised her to keep communicating to them or recite the hymn so that they could instantly detect any fault in her speech and take care of that issue. Fortunately, everything went well, and the patient was kept under observation and later discharged by Saturday.
After the surgery, Neurosurgeon Dr. Deepak Gupta took care of the girl and gave her a nice head wash, combed her hair, and trimmed just a particular section of her head so that she doesn't feel peculiar among others. He also ensured her safety throughout the time and bonded with her while making sure she doesn't feel any sort of pain and goes back to lead her normal life.
