A group of artists in West Sumatra created a unique statue of a ship and crew made out of rattan.

The miniature ship, filmed on October 1, includes a crew and captain and is made from Kau rattan. The piece is located in front of the West Sumatra Cultural Office, in the city of Padang, Indonesia.

This miniature ship in an estimated five metres long and three metres wide, with a four-metre-tall mast held together using rattan wood with nails tied together with ropes from rattan rods.

Mamud, one of the artists, explained: "This miniature is a ship used in ancient times with people where Indonesia is known as a Kapal Pelayar,"

He added: "It took thousands of sticks of rattan and over a month to build."

A number of youths in the city of Padang made a ship maniatur from Kau rattan complete with people and manara located in front of the West Sumatra Cultural Office, Friday, October 1, 2021.

This miniature ship with a length of five meters and a width of 3 meters and a tower height of 4 meters is made with a system of arranging rattan wood with nails and tying it back together with ropes from rattan rods.

mamud said "this miniature is a ship in ancient times with people where Indonesia is known as a sailor" .

mamud added "it takes thousands of sticks of rattan and takes a month longer to work" .

With this work, they also demonstrate that young people in Indonesia must continue to be creative.
