Floods gushed through a home after heavy rain lashed Indonesia.

The muddy torrent was seen rushing out from one of the houses in Batam City, Riau Islands Province on Sunday October 10. The deluge flooded the front yard, as well as a road outside the house gates.

Locals said the deluge happened when the river adjacent to the house overflowed because of intense downpours in the area. The back wall of the house was reportedly broken, which caused the flood to pour through.

Onlooker Mohammed Al said: ‘Flooding occurs when it rains heavily during the day. The water that came out of the house is very heavy.’

‘It was my neighbor’s house. The wall of his house was broken, so the water from the river went straight into the house and out again through the front door.’

Tina said there were no casualties in this incident. However, the owner of the house lost several possessions that were swept away by the flood.

Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
