Amusing CCTV footage has emerged from China of a man dressing as a police officer and brazenly walking into a police station to try and get his friend out of custody.

In the video, captured on the security cameras at the station in Zhejiang Province last week, the man can be seen negotiating with the officers before he's rumbled and gets arrested himself.

According to local reports the man used to be a police assistant in another area and decided to try his luck when he heard a friend had been arrested for illegal gambling. He ended up spending 5 days inside and, adding insult to injury, the rumour about his friend's arrest turned out to be false.
