Ukrainian citizens scuffle over missing rented motorbike in Indonesia
A Ukrainian national was beaten by his fellow citizens during a scuffle in Bali, Indonesia, over a rented motorbike that had gone missing.
The fight broke out when Oleg Zheinov, a Ukrainian who owns a motorcycle rental business in Badung Regency, allegedly accused his fellow countryman, Volodymyr Kaminsky, of losing a motorbike that was rented out to him.
Five well-built foreigners were seen on camera on February 2 assaulting Oleg while loud police sirens blared in the background.
Footage shows the masked men decking Oleg in the face, and pushing him into the trunk of a black SUV before reportedly abducting him for about two hours. They were also said to have taken his phone.
The scuffle attracted the attention of locals and motorists. Not long after, a woman was seen pacing near the vehicle before opening the trunk and freeing Oleg.
Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra, head of the Bali Regional Police, said the suspects claimed to be members of the international police - a claim denied by the officers.
Danu said: 'We have confirmed that they are not members of the international police. We have arrested one person, and we are still pursuing the other four. We already know their whereabouts.'
Meanwhile, Oleg sustained bruises and injuries on his left jaw and left knee. He also faces possible deportation as he allegedly violated his visitor's visa by opening the motorcycle rental shop.
