An alert female cop saved the life of a passenger after he slipped while trying to deboard a train in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place at the Egmore Railway Station in Chennai on April 24.

Visuals, caught on CCTV camera, showed the train slowly moving when the male passenger tried to deboard. He failed and fell on the platform and would have slipped below, if not for an alert female cop. The police woman noticed the distressed passenger and pulled her away to safety.

The cop has been identified as Miss Mathuri, a woman constable.

Speaking to Newslions, LS Sivanesan, Inspector of Egmore RFP, said, the 45-year-old male passenger had boarded the Rock Fort express at platform number 4, only to realise that it was the wrong train.

The passenger deboarded in a hurry, resulting in the fall.
