A Thai man was rushed to a hospital after he had a ring stuck on his penis for two weeks 'to try and cure premature ejaculation'.

The 40-year-old local was taken into the emergency room after showing medics his penis - which had already started to fester.

He told doctors that he had been trying to remove the ring from his genitals for two weeks but without success so he went to the hospital himself to seek help.

However, the steel ring he wore was too thick for hospital equipment so a local rescue team had to be called to the scene for help in Bangkok, Thailand on May 12.

Boonsong Lamphun, one of the volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation Rescue team who helped remove the ring, said: ‘This case required special skills and equipment so the nurses called us. The patient was probably ashamed of what had happened so he tried to fix it by himself. But the condition only became worse.'

The man is said to have suffered from premature ejaculation and found that wearing the ring on his genitals would help him.

When the rescuers arrived, he was lying down an operating bed while a worker used a disc grinder to cut through the accessory. A nurse poured disinfectant on his penis to cool it off the steel while it was being cut.

After half an hour, the man’s penis was freed and nurses continued cleaning his wounds which had festered with pus. He was generally fine and was given some antibiotics to speed up his recovery, which doctors said could take several weeks.

Rescue worker Boonsong added: 'The man said he was using a metal ring which he thought helped his sexual performance, to make his orgasms last longer. However, he did not buy the ring from a special shop.

'I have seen more cases of this happening so people should be aware about this issue. If they put anything on their penis it can be dangerous.'
