A hungry wild elephant wandered into a family's kitchen while looking for food.

The jumbo named Siduan snuck into the house and grabbed clumps of cooked rice with its trunk before leaving the property in Prachinburi province, Thailand on May 30.

Natcha, the daughter of the homeowner, said she was preparing the rice for their pet dog when the elephant appeared and opened the electric rice cooker to help itself to the meal.

It then left after the family drove it away with loud noises.

Siduan reportedly came from the Thap Lan National Park and had also wandered into a different residence while looking for fruits on May 28. The house's roof was damaged due to the animal's size.

Elephants are the national animal of Thailand. An estimated 2,000 elephants are living in the wild and a similar number in captivity.

In the wild, they roam through the deep jungle and in the country's protected national parks but often encounter humans on roads and in villages. However, they are protected by laws and killing them carries a maximum prison term of up to three years and a fine of 1,000 baht (23.22 GBP).
