Hundreds of stranded tourists were escorted out of a locked down resort city in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Beihai in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on July 19 shows a boat taking the stranded tourists from Weizhou Island to the international passenger terminal.

The bus then took the tourists to Beihai train station.

According to reports, officials locked down Beihai after a surge in coronavirus cases, causing more than 2,000 tourists to be stranded in the city.

The local government said on July 17 that tourists who had not been in contact with anyone who had contracted COVID-19, or visited medium or high-risk areas, would be allowed to leave if they showed a negative COVID-19 test.

The more than 600 tourists who met the conditions left Beihai on July 19.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
