Army personnel rescued 15 residents from a fast-flowing river in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, on July 28.

Heavy rainfall had caused the Pulast river to overflow seeing a group of residents became stranded in the water.

Officials from the Jammu and Kashmir police and the State Disaster Response Fund were seen carrying locals on their shoulders to safety.

Army and police rescued 15 people who were stuck in the river in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place in the Pulast river at the Dariya bridge, Poonch district on July 28.

Visuals showed a river flowing at a high current that had overflown because of the heavy rainfall.

A group of officials were seen helping a few people cross the overflowing river with the help of ropes. A few of them were seen carrying people on their shoulders and climbing up the stairs. An excavator moving in the river for the rescue.

According to reports, army, Jammu and Kashmir police and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) rescued 15 people who were stuck in the overflowing river after rainfall inundated the district.
