Sparks fly out of ageing utility pole in fireworks in China
Sparks flew out of a utility pole like fireworks as the cables were ageing in eastern China.
Video filmed in the city of Linyi in Shandong Province on August 15 shows sparks flying out of a utility pole like fireworks.
The nearby merchants said to Shandong Television that the sparks came from the cables on the utility pole and repairmen quickly fixed the issue.
An employee named Du of Urban Electric Supply Centre in Tancheng County said the incident was caused by the ageing of the cables.
The electricity has been used a lot due to the high temperature, causing the cables to heat up and burn.
The power was restored at night on the same day.
