ITBP officials rescue stranded pet dog of homestay owner in northern India
Officers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police successfully rescued a stranded pet dog that belonged to the owner of a homestay in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.
The incident happened in the Tabo area of Spiti valley in the Lahaul and Spiti district on August 11. The dog had gotten stranded on the bank of Spiti river.
Visuals showed the officers carrying out the rescue operation. A rope was used to rescue the dog. One of the officers who wore a life jacket jumped into the raging waters of the river and the dog too followed him. Soon, both swam to safety and the rescue operation was successful.
According to a report, the dog belonged to a person named Sheetansh, who owns the Tabo Homestay in the area. The canine had reportedly gone missing on August 7 and despite searching, it wasn't to be found.
A person reported that the dog was trapped in the river and wasn't able to cross it with the water flowing in strong current. Sheetansh got to the area where his dog was trapped and also managed to throw food to the animal on the other side. He soon informed the local administration about this and the Additional Deputy Commissioner then sought the ITBP's support in rescuing the animal.
The ITBP officers then sprung to action and rescued the animal. Their effort was appreciated by the locals and Sheetansh thanked them as well.
