A father rushed to protect their child as a 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked their home in Luding, Sichuan Province, on September 5.

A security camera captured the moment the quake hit and how the dad Mr Gao sprung into action by protecting his child from any falling items.

Gao later said that this was his instinct and his responsibility as a father.

On September 5, in Luding County, Ganzi, Sichuan, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred at noon that day.

Surveillance footage showed that a father who was playing with his mobile phone immediately held his child tightly in his arms after realizing the earthquake.
