A large wild python shocked drivers when it was seen coiled around a road sign in Thailand.

The 8ft-long serpent was sitting on top of the blue keep left sign on top of the road barrier when a passing driver saw it in Ang Thong province on November 17.

Rescuers were called to the scene to remove the snake that had been scaring motorists and passersby in the area.

Footage shows the animal rescue team managing traffic to warn drivers before luring the creature off of the signpost.

One of the rescuers said: ‘It had been scaring off drivers and passersby. This area is a u-turn spot for villagers to and from school.

‘But we can't quickly take the snake. We had to clear the busy road first in case the snake slithers across the road.'

While the rescuers waved to drivers to slow down, the snake fell onto the concrete road and tried to escape, but a volunteer caught it by the tail.

The female snake wrangler then placed the snake in a sac with the help of a colleague and released it later.
