Woman gives birth to four-legged baby girl in India
A woman gave birth to a four-legged baby girl at Kamla Raja Hospital in
Gwalior, India's Madhya Pradesh, on December 14.
Dr. RKS Dhakad of the Jayarogya Hospital Group, told the mother Aarti Khuswaha from Sikandar Kampoo, that her child suffers from a medical condition called Ischiopagus.
"When the embryo divides into two parts, the body develops at two places. The lower part, below the waist of this baby girl, has developed two extra legs but those legs are inactive", explained the doctor.
Despite this condition, the baby girl, who weighs 2.3 kg, is completely healthy. Doctors are now checking whether she has any other forms of deformity.
If the medical team finds the baby to be fully healthy, the two extra legs will be surgically removed.
