A British pensioner who went missing was found dead after straying from his home in Thailand.

John Boisclair, 80, from Hertfordshire, had wandered away from his house in Bangkok in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was seen on CCTV wearing a white shirt and brown shorts while shuffling across a car park at 2am.

His frantic family reported him missing, and said the Brit was last seen walking in the Bukkhalo area of Bangkok, heading towards Mahai Sawan.

Police in the Bang Khun Thian district were informed at 4 pm that the body of a foreign man had been found on the side of Ratchaphruek Road.

Officers identified him as the missing pensioner through a passport in his pocket. He was found next to a park fence some 500 metres from his home.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chumpol Phurahong from the Bang Khun Thian Police Station said: 'The man had a wound on his arm, likely caused by a fall. We believe he had died of dehydration around eight to 10 hours before his body was discovered.'

John's remains will undergo a post-mortem examination before being collected by relatives for funeral arrangements.

His daughter-in-law Airada said he was an expat living in Thailand for around 30 years, and was suffering Alzheimer's disease.
