This is the 2nd video in a series of a man in Indonesia quitting smoking for a year which coincides with World No Tobacco Day.

Timelapse footage was filmed by Wahyu Lelo for two months every day from 30 May to 30 July 2022, showing the changes in his face and body.

At first, his face looks pale and lifeless with sunken cheeks and the back of head. In the second month at the end of the video his face starts to brighten and shows a positive spirit.

“The first two months after quitting smoking I could breathe freely and easily. My appetite has increased as my tongue has regained its sensitivity to taste. There is no more liquid or mucus in the nose and throat,” Wahyu said happily today (28 May).

Wahyu (45), Indonesian journalist, has documented how he changed when he quit smoking by making selfie videos every day for the past year.

He started his project on May 30 last year, the first day he quit smoking.

24 hours after quitting smoking in the early hours of the morning, he realized that it was World No Tobacco Day, which is celebrated every May 31.

"I feel very happy. Like the world supports me to live a healthier life. I also thought of documenting every day with a selfie video what happened to my face and body after quitting smoking," Wahyu said when remembering that moment which was priceless as it couldn't be repeated.

According to him, he has been making a series of self-documenting timelapse videos every day for a year of changes in himself when he quit smoking.

The series begins with 1st month after quitting smoking, then 2nd months, 3rd months, 6th months and 1st year, which will end just in time for the commemoration of World No Tobacco Day 2023 on May 31.

Each series tells about health developments and changes that occur in the body after quitting smoking.
